Last year, as ACW’s garbage pick up contract with Waste Management came to an end, they put out a call for bidders to take over the contract. Unfortunately there were no companies that were willing to continue with bagged garbage pick-up. ACW has no choice but to move to the cart system with an automated lift and dump.
In case you missed the mailer from ACW providing details on the rollout, here’s a quick summary.
Garbage pick up with the new system starts Monday July 20th for Port Albert.

Wheelie Carts
One cart for recycling (yellow lid) and one for garbage (black lid) will be given to properties with curbside truck access. If you receive your carts before the July 20th, do not use them until Port Albert’s first pick up on Monday July 20th.

Bins (dumpsters)
Bins will be placed in staging areas where narrow cottage roads are not accessible by the trucks. Port Albert is currently slated for 3 bins intended to service 5 inaccessible roads.
