UPDATE: Short-Term Rental Regulation Proposed Public Consultation Plan
The special committee tasked coming up with a licensing plan for short-term rentals in ACW has reported to Council that they recommend a public consultation before implementing the program with the following timeline to begin in September 2025:
The committee recognizes the importance of starting the public-consultation period while the lakefront community is still here.
- July 29: Committee prepares a draft for discussion at Council’s July 29 meeting and finalize based on feedback.
- August 12: Review and consider revised draft at Council meeting.
- Late August: Launch public consultation – Announce draft by-law, post online, begin promotion. Proposal made public giving lakefront associations time to have discussions and present input before people start to close for the season and depart the area.
- Early September: Drop-in “open house”.
- November: Committee to assess feedback, revise and present the result to Council for final approval.
